The Local Government Association, New Local and TPXimpact are working together on an exciting project to capture and celebrate examples of innovative community engagement.
Over the past few months we’ve heard inspiring stories of councils, communities and partner organisations bravely moving beyond traditional methods of engagement to find new ways of listening to and involving residents.
In councils of all sizes, tiers, regions and political make-ups, underrepresented groups and seldom-heard communities are being brought closer to decision making and given new opportunities to shape the places and services that matter to them.
We are struck by how often this action begins with a spark of creativity and courage from an elected councillor or council officer, which then inspires others to embark on a journey of change.
We are now bringing you – the bright sparks – together in a series of participatory workshops to celebrate your innovative community engagement work, share examples of good practice and lessons learnt, while at the same time equipping you with the connections and tools to inspire even more action in your council.
Each of the four workshops will centre around a key theme but will be similar in nature.
They are open to everyone, regardless of role, in every council, irrespective of size, tier or location and will take place virtually.
